About the Verizon Coverage Maps

Verizon Wireless® is one of the leading providers of cell phone coverage[+] in the United States and across the globe. A good amount of coverage is available throughout Europe. In addition to contact cell phones, prepaid phone service is also avaialble.

Verizon offers: voice, 2G, 3G, and 4G LTE coverage. Some of the 3G coverage is “extended” which suggests that it is offered by a partner, rather than directly by Verizon.

Coverage Maps for Verizon

  • 3G Map:In the areas where 4G is not available, 3G typically is, at least where the east coast in concerned. There are many areas, mostly west of Texas that have no coverage at all. Some places where coverage is available is limited to 3G, as the 4G network has not yet expanded to cover those areas.
  • 4G Map:The only 4G coverage Verizon offers is LTE.
  • LTE Map:4G LTE is highly available throughout the east coast, but areas west of Texas have much less coverage availability. There are many dead spots that offer no coverage west of Texas as well. The coast of California has a decent amount of 4G coverage, but nothing compared to the east coast, as the majority of those states offer coverage across all the states.
  • WiMax Map: As of November 2013, Verizon Wireless does not appear to offer 4G WiMax coverage.

Important Information About Verizon Coverage Maps

The coverage maps from Verizon represent an estimation of where coverage could be available. They do not serve to guarantee coverage availability in any area, as a number of factors determine coverage availability. If you are unable to get data coverage, connecting to a WiFi network will enable you to use the Internet on your phone. However, your phone must have a WiFi feature in order for this to work. To use 4G LTE coverage, your device must be compatible.
